Wishing for Wellness - How to Build Balance in Your Life

Updated: Jan 16, 2023

"I am looking for more balance in my life" is something that I hear a lot from clients. The idea of finding balance and even defining what the heck balance looks like can be daunting. Referencing a wellness wheel is a good starting off point to figuring out what wellness is and also where to begin. Everyone has their own personal wellness wheel. This wheel is divided into 7 different components including:

  1. Spiritual Wellness

    1. Purpose and meaning in your life by connecting with your values and morals

  2. Emotional Wellness

    1. Identifying, managining, and taking care of our emotions and feelings

  3. Social Wellness

    1. Having good relationships and connections with family and friends in your community

  4. Physical Wellness

    1. Working on our physical well being by taking care of our body

  5. Environmental Wellness

    1. How you understand and interact with the environment

  6. Occupational Wellness

    1. Personal satisfaction and enrichment derived from one’s work

  7. Financial Wellness

    1. Working on your financial situation and looking at resources

  8. Intellectual Wellness

    1. Recognizing creative abilities and finding ways to expand knowledge and skills

This wheel is unique to you. We put energy into different parts of the wheel which make some parts smaller and some parts are larger. Use this to check in with yourself and ask which parts of your wellness wheel you might want to pay more attention to and invest more in, in order to help you restore your balance or get one step closer to finding it.
